Spotlight on mid Wales

Mid Wales is a largely rural area that incorporates the counties of Powys and Ceredigion.

Keys towns include Aberystwyth, Welshpool, Newtown and Brecon.

The population of mid Wales is only 206,000, with 87,000 in employment. 40.9% speak Welsh. 40.4% per cent held qualifications at level 4 or above (degree-level). There are about 11,000 students at Aberystwyth University.

Food and Farming, and Tourism are major employers.
